Baer Christian Hospital, in keeping with the legacy of Dr. Mary Baer, provides space for a nursing school to prepare health professionals, not only at Baer Christian Hospital, but for community health work in other locations. Nursing services are badly needed throughout the area around Baer Christian Hospital. This nursing school insures well trained healthcare workers to deliver service to the poor at the clinic and hospital and through the medical outreach initiatives. Ongoing support will make possible the necessary clinical training of these nurses to complete their work effectively. By providing preventative health education and health screening in the villages, the overall health of the poor is enhanced and the staggering infant and child mortally rate has been reduced. The present Nursing School is under management of Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church. In the future Baer Christian Hospital would like to have a Nursing School and a Nursing College of its own, even as Dr. Mary Baer had envisioned.
